This  game  was  played  throughout  in  wet  and  windy  conditions, which  drove  eastwards  down  the length  of  the  pitch, and  provided  an  interesting  contrast  with  how  both  teams  would  battle  against  the  elements  and  each  other.

In  the  first  half, Accies  tactical  approach  was   to  win  quick  ball  and  to  bring  their  threequarters into  the  game  at  every  opportunity, using  the  wind  only  as  a  last  resort  in  defence. With  a  much  more  experienced  pack, the  Deaf  Team  concentrated  on  a  driving  forward  mauling  rucking  approach from  set  and  loose  play.

Accies  tactics  initially  bore  fruit bringing  them  19  points  in the  first  32  minutes.

In  the  8th  minute Outside  Half  L.Popham broke  clear  from  a  ruck, glided  down  the  blind   side  and  from  a  return  pass  from  Centre  Greg  Davies scored

and  converted  his  own  try. In  the  22nd  minute  Popham  dummied   through  a  weak  Deaf  defence  and  passed  to  Greg Davies   who  scored  with  the  conversion missed.

In  the  32nd  minute from a quick  inside  pass  from  Popham, Winger   Jack  Barrett  flew  through  for Popham  to  convert.  This  early  dominance of  the  Accies  was  soon  broken  by  the  Deaf  Team  as  its  pack  steam  rollered  up field  to  camp  in  the  Accies  25  area. Their  pressure  and  perseverance  was  rewarded  by  scoring  two  tries by     No  8  A.Blake (Captain)   and   D.Vella  both  converted  by  K.Ashton.

With  the  wind  and  rain  at  their  backs   the  resurgent  Deaf  team  started  the  second  half  strongly  by  establishing  a  foothold  in  the  Accies  25. However  their  driving strategy  brought  no  reward, as  the  Accies  valiantly  tackled  themselves  to  a  standstill in  raising the  continuous  sieges  of  their  try  line to change  defence  into  counter  attack by  breaking   down  field  to  score  two  match  winning  tries. In the  55th  minute Scrum  Half Shaun  Clarke  broke  cleverly from  a  maul  on  the  Deaf  Team’s  line to  score  with  Einian  Scott  converting. Then  in the 70th  minute, from  defending  on  their  own  line and  a  missed   Deaf  Team’s   35  yard  penalty, Accies  worked  downfield as  the  Deaf  Team’s  pack   tired, for  Einian  Scott  to  charge down a  relieving  kick  from  the  Deaf  Team’s  Outside  Half  to  score  near  the  posts  and  to  convert  his  own  try.

With  the score  at  33-14  the  resistance  of  the  Deaf  Team  lessened  and  Accies maintained  control  to  emerge  as  winners.
